Rafting or white water rafting is a challenging recreational outdoor activity using an inflatable raft to navigate on a river. This is usually done on white water or different degrees of rough water, in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers.
Like most outdoor sports, rafting in general has become safer over the years and we can say that is the safest between whitewater sports. Thanks to this can be used as family program, so called family rafting. The most important characteristic of a rafting tour is that the participants have to synchronize their moves, that’s why it is a beloved team building activity. Rafting is the paddling sport which is the most recommended to begin whitewater paddling because it is the safest.
Rafts come in a few different forms. We usually use two forms of rafting boat: the most common symmetrical raft in which can fit 6-12 people and so-called trekking boats (in-line rafts) in which can sit 2-3 persons. In case of the raft in every boat is there is a guide, in the case of the in-line raft there is one experimented guide to every fifth boat, but the minimum number of guides on a tour is 2. Usually one guide is with whitewater kayak.
The best period to do rafting trips is when the snow is melting (April-June ). This period of the year is from April to May. Buzau and Jiu rivers can be paddled all season long.
The Jiu is the perfect place for rafting throughout the whole year, being one of the most exciting rafting rivers in Romania. We recommend it for everyone wanting an adrenaline full weekend in this magnificent place.
Buzau is the closest whitewater to Bucharest. Because water from the Siriu Lake is used to produce electricity, day by day, on the lower part of the river the water level is high enough for rafting even in the dry summer months.
Cerna is the King of the rivers from Romania. The landscape and the difficulty of the section makes this a "must paddle" for every rafting enthusiast.
The Lăpuș Gorge is one of the untouched places in Romania. During on a rafting trip on Lăpuș we will feel like a real explorer on an expedition. The length of the valley allowes us to organize 2 days long trips, spending the night in tents.
The Mures River is an ideal place for beginners, or for those who want to enjoy the natural beauties of the valley, while paddling on its friendly, clear water.
Crisul Repede is one of the most famous rafting rivers in Romania. The easy rafting route and renowned natural scenery makes it a popular turistic objective for groups and even for families with children. Rafting can be organized with 2 or 6 person boats.
Who wants to participate on a relaxed tour, and to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Apuseni Mountains, Aries river is ideal for him. We recommend this river even for families with children.
